Day 19 - Tahiti to Moorea

This morning we woke up at Le Meridien in Tahiti to this view!

When we woke up, we wanted to figure out what was the rumbling sound we had heard all night long.  It turned out to be the crashing of waves on the reef, which is about 1/3 mile out from shore.

After grabbing some breakfast (and Mindy getting our insanely high breakfast bill reduced) and hitting the beach, we checked out this Polynesian show being put on for Father's Day luncheon.

We checked out of the hotel around 2PM so that we could catch the 3:30PM ferry to Moorea.  After a small mishap with leaving our camera in the taxi and getting back in touch with him so he could return it,  we caught the ferry to Moorea.  While waiting for the ferry, we got this pick in front of a Hinano sign.

We both tasted a savory Hinano beer on the ferry to Moorea.

Here is the view on the ferry looking back towards Papeete, the main city in Tahiti.

When we got to Moorea, a cool yellow bus, the Moorea Explorer, picked us up and took us to our guesthouse Faire Vaihare.  After ringing the doorbell, we were greeted by the nicest hosts Phillipe and Corinne.  Throughout our two day stay here, they were absolutely awesome hosts!

Within 5 minutes of pressing the doorbell, Phillipe and Corinne had coconut drinks in our hands!

Here are two snapshots of our guesthouse.  It was absolutely awesome!

And here we are on the beach at Faire Vaihere!

We got there just as the sun was setting.

As it was setting, we took one of Phillipe and Corinne's kayaks out to paddle around the bay and enjoy the sunset.  Here are pics from our kayak adventure.

As it was getting dark, we headed back to Fare Vaihere.  Here is a picture of the guesthouse.

Back on land after the sunset.

We ate dinner at the guesthouse with another couple from Italy and the guesthouse owners, Phillipe and Corinne.  Corinne cooked an amazing meal.  First time I ate fish (that wasn't sushi)!
